Cougars News · Reminder About Fall Sports Conditioning

Hello Cougar Athletes,

Conditioning for FALL SPORTS is set to return Monday July 6th. Please contact your coach for days and times. Before any athlete can participate in athletics, they must meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled at the OCPS school in which they are participating in the summer workouts
  • Have completed the current physical packet in full and have it approved (paper copies available in front office)
  • Parent agreement and signature on COVID waiver included with physical packet
  • Provide proof of health insurance
  • Provide heat illness, sudden cardiac arrest, and concussion certificates from FHSAA courses
  • A 2.0 GPA for rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors

All participants (including coaches) will be given the following health screening upon arrival each day before they can participate:

  1. Temperature check with laser thermometer. Any person with a 100.4 degree temperature or above will be sent home immediately.
  2. Asked the following questions: (A) Do you have chills? (B) Do you have a sore throat? (C) Do you have a cough or shortness of breath? (D) Do you currently feel ill? An answer of “YES” to any question will result in the participant being sent home immediately.

The following safety measures (at a minimum)  will be in place for the health and wellbeing of students and faculty:

  • Only outdoor facilities and the weight room can be utilized
  • Only 1 hour of conditioning outdoors per day
  • Only 1 hour of conditioning in the weight room per day
  • Only 10 people to an area including coaches (ex: 9 athletes and 1 coach or 8 athletes and 2 coaches)
  • Once grouped together on the first day, those same 10 individuals will remain together through July
  • No use of equipment or sharing of equipment other than the weight room
  • Weight room equipment will be wiped clean after each individual use
  • Individuals must stay 6ft apart from each other at all times
  • Individuals are recommended to have a mask available for individual comfort or in case of an emergency
  • Only athletes and faculty members are allowed out of their cars on campus. All others must remain in the car throughout practice or leave campus
